Richard Milne was kind enough to invite us on his show Local Anesthetic last year when we released our second album “Thirty Foot Snake.” Roughly a year later he placed it on his list of top albums from 2014.
I remember when Richard asked us to come on the show last year I was just thrilled. We were just starting out and it felt like a huge validation in what were were doing. Like, this weird shit I am compelled to do, someone else likes it, too.
When I first started in 2012 I didn’t care if anyone “got it.” But what changes over the years is it actually feels much better when you find people through your music than when you turn them away. I try not to think about this too much when it comes to songwriting though. When we interviewed on WXRT I ended up meeting a really cool guy later who has been one of our biggest fans. He heard us on the show and we shared a connection.
So when we got listed as one of the top albums for 2014 it makes me think of where we were a year ago and how I felt then compared to how I feel now. We’re a year older and working on our best work to date. It feels great and I’m looking forward to 2015.
