Last year around this time we were working on “Thirty Foot Snake.” We had just finished a string of shows and played live on WZRD which was an experience to say the least. I thought we could jam practice and recording into December and have “Hot Fun” out by the end of the year but it’s taking a little longer than expected.
The holidays generally kill productivity. It’s just really hard to stay focused on something when you’re cramming pumpkin pie in your face every other day. It’s also been tough lining up schedules. Practice has been slower and needed more than ever because the songs on “Hot Fun” are being written for the album and haven’t been played all year like “Thirty Foot Snake.” I normally want to push stuff out super fast. But this next album feels really special for some reason I don’t know why. I’m really enjoying working on it. And I want it to be as good as it sounds in my head.
Our recording engineer Dave V. at Public House Sound Recordings has had a great 2014 (NE-HI, Landmarks, Melkbelly, Gross Pointe, etc) which is awesome, but this means it’s much harder to book time with him because he’s doing so much new work.
On that note, I’m happy to say we’ve booked January 10th, 2015 with Dave at Public House Sound Recordings to record “Hot Fun.” This will be our third studio album. Since we spent a lot of time mixing our Public House Singles Release I’m hoping we can keep a lot of that for the new songs and have the whole thing out by the end of January.
Thanks for listening, coming to shows and supporting our music. Looking forward to a most excellent 2015.
